T-3 visa information

Looking for help. My wife and I arrived in Ecuador on January 30th, 2020 on a T-3 tourist visa. I had tickets to leave on April 7, 2020 which would be only 68 days. All flights were canceled in mid-March and we were told to shelter in place until the emergency was over. The government offices were closed and getting an extension was impossible. We were told that there would be no penalty for overstaying our T-3 due to the Covid emergency. Flights resumed in mid-June and we flew out on January 19th, 2020. At the airport I was told that we would not be allowed back into Ecuador because of our overstay. We want to come back to Ecuador in February, 2021 but are not sure if they will let us in. We have been coming to Ecuador for many years and have never overstayed our time. We feel like we did exactly what the government had asked us to do. If anyone has had this happen to them or someone they know, any help or advice will be appreciated. Thank you,
