Voting absentee - check your state requirements re: signatures

I wanted to let Texas residents who might be voting absentee in the upcoming US election that they must get a ballot request by email from their respective county in TX.

I went through the entire online process to apply for my ballot with Democrats Abroad, including uploading a digitized copy of my signature, as Texas is listed as a state that accepts a digitized signature DA's list of states which do.

After 9 days I still had not received my ballot from Bexar County, so I called them. They told me that Texas will only accept a "wet" signature, and they sent me a fillable ballot via email.

They also said they had declined 500 ballots so far in that county alone because of this issue, and they had had trouble with the Democrat's Abroad website. This is not to say DA is not doing a great service, thank you, but be sure not to make this mistake and check your state's requirements before using their process.

Also, your ballot must be mailed from your offshore address to be "absentee", nobody can carry it home for you. DHL charges $25 for ballot service.

Happy voting,

Mary Thomajan
