The miracles continue

At Hogar de Esperanza, we see miracles almost every day. But none is so special as when we bring families back together. Families who have been torn apart by disease, abuse, or loss. We have reunited many. From those living on the streets who have lost contact with their families to those who suffered terrible trauma and were unable to face their past. With our team of professionals, we have successfully handled some of the most difficult cases crossing our path.

Maria has been one of our most challenging cases. She was referred to us over two years ago, in a coma for five months because of terrible abuse, to now being able to walk and talk again after much rehabilitation, albeit with permanent disabilities. We reunited her with her children who thought their mother was dead, and now are so proud to announce that, next Wednesday, her two boys will be coming to live with her at the foundation. To support the boys’ move, 12 staff and residents of the orphanage on the coast in which they have lived for years, will be making the long journey with them to provide emotional support during their permanent move to Cuenca. They are excited to take part in celebrating this miracle with us and saying good-bye to the boys. It has been a long and difficult road, but with your support, this joyous reunification will finally be here in a few short days. Maria’s story is one of the most incredible we have ever dealt with and one whose pride the expat community can share in making it all happen.

We will need extra support for these boys, and we want to do everything we can to make this family’s future the best it can be. To support Maria, you can make a donation at: https://www.givingway.com/project/a9af7d
