Recommendation for Chef Nathaly Vivas, food preparation, service in your home

I hired Chef Nathaly Vivas to cook dinner for me and three friends on Monday, which was Canadian Thanksgiving. I can’t say enough good things about the whole experience.

Nathaly and her partner Ederico (a wicked good bartender, BTW) came over in advance to check my kitchen equipment. We discussed the menu, and Nathaly enthusiastically agreed to everything we asked for. Which was salad with creamy garlic dressing, maple glazed salmon, scalloped potatoes with a cheese sauce with a hint of garlic, roasted vegetables, with apple crumble and pumpkin pie with whipped cream for dessert. We had three appetizers as well, and the leek dip in a sourdough bread bowl was to die for. All the food was fantastic. The salmon was perfectly cooked (I find here that too often it is overcooked and dry). The potatoes were a wild hit with everyone.

Ederico made special cocktails for us (Passion Fruit Mojitos and Orangtinis) and served us in the back yard. He told us to text them in the kitchen when we were ready for refills.

They did all the shopping beforehand and all the clean up after. All I had to do after they left was wash the remaining wine glasses we had still been using and throw the place mats in the washing machine.

These two young people are brilliantly organized, fun, talented people. The cost was the price of the food, plus $55, which worked out to less than $14 per person. I gave them a 100% tip, because even then, it was a phenomenal deal.
