From Cuenca Kitchens to your table

On Friday night the toast at Ray and Linda Lewis’ launch party was,

“When you put Cuenca Kitchens’ products on your table, two families eat!”

The Lewises, long-time supporters of the Cuenca Soup Kitchen, hosted a launch party for a new Cuenca Soup Kitchen initiative called Cuenca Kitchens. It is a nonprofit charitable organization started by the Cuenca Soup Kitchen in order to raise money and awareness to help feed hungry people in Cuenca and the surrounding areas.

Cuenca Kitchens is also aimed at thanking our generous donors. Each purchase through Cuenca Kitchens generates a donation to the Cuenca Soup Kitchen’s food kit program which is run in partnership with Hearts of Gold. Currently this program provides weekly food kits to help 107 families (over 500 people).

Products available for purchase from Cuenca Kitchens include a variety of artisanal foods as well as other foods that are not readily available in Ecuador. These specialty products are made by Cuenca Soup Kitchen volunteers and 100% of the profits go directly to support the Cuenca Soup Kitchen’s mission as well as its partner foundations. Every purchase helps to ensure that food is available for hundreds of those in need every day.

The evening included a tasting of the current items available – everything from Sweet Italian Sausage to Luscious Lemon Curd to Magical Margaritas. Other offerings included: Perfect Pastrami, Sassy Ceviche, Aha! Aji, Chunky Chicken Salad, Chockablock Chili, Taboo Toffee, and Brioche Pudding.

When you put these delicious products on your table, you are also putting food on the tables of those in need.
