You can be a hero

Dear friends and donors of Mujeres Con Exito,

As we are all experiencing how the pandemic has turned our world upside down.

More so for those living on the margins. The 50 women and 77 children living outside the shelter have no employment (aside from selling tacos on the street) and are completely relying upon Mujeres con Exito to assist them with rent, food and now schooling.

Mujeres is setting up two apartments at the downtown location to hold classes five days a week for the families living outside the shelter. Three educators from the shelter and social workers will plan and teach nine families a day, feed them lunch, assign homework etc. Why families? Most of the women do not have any education so they are unable to assist their children with homework. But having the women accompany their children to class they are able to observe the assignments their children are learning and assist them with homework.

However, the government expects each child to have specific school supplies. Last year we collected $5000 to purchase uniforms shoes and school supplies for these children and those in the shelter. Although we don't have to provide uniforms the children need school supplies to participate in remote classes.

So, now we are finding the women need rent money (we provide food and medicine) and school supplies...FYI two of the women and their children have tested positive for the virus so we are providing medicine for them.

Once again, we turn to you in your generosity to assist us in providing shelter and schooling for these desperate families.

If you can possibly do a little extra to help these women and their children, you can make a contribution with PayPal at mcbsusan at outlook dot com or contact me for banking information. Please stay safe.

With gratitude and love,
Susan McBride
