This week in La Guarida

Please know that La Guarida is taking all bio-safety measures into consideration to keep each other as safe as possible. Our maximum capacity is of 15 people, private restrooms for every reservation.

This week we bring you two incredible films:

Tuesday: In The Mood For Love 6:15 PM
A visual poem set in Hong Kong of the '60s. The movie is as much about lost worlds as failed loves. Memories of old China haunt the brokenhearted lovers from the East as they work their way to the vortex of high-speed Hong Kong, draw together and recoil. The director, looking back on the scene of his youth, has touched on something at the heart of the émigré experience. A unique film, one of the crowning jewels of Chinese cinema.

Wednesday: Little Miss Sunshine 6:15 PM
A wonderful film that blends comedy and drama. The great accomplishment of “Little Miss Sunshine” is its delicate tonal balance: Each character is dealing with his or her unique challenges, which run from the tragic to the ridiculous. Meanwhile, the vibrant performances — particularly Steve Carell’s turn as a suicidal academic reeling from a bad breakup — keep the film light on its feet. It’s smartly structured, too, as this family goes from bickering and falling apart — not unlike the van they’re riding in — to coalescing when it most matters.

Please know that these two events are reservation with dinner only. Our maximum capacity is of 15 people so reserve fast. We are taking all precautions and our reservations are apart 2 meters from each other.

Every Thursday we will have live music in La Guarida. This week we are honored to present Roberto Ávila - one of the most gifted voices in Ecuador. Roberto is similar to a young Caetano Vaeloso. If you have never seen Roberto performed - this is your chance. Cover $8 (100% of the cover fee goes to the musician). We have also designed a new menu for this evening with small plates and we'll feature 3 different wines beginning at $13.50 (the bottle).

Our art exhibit by Maestro Eduardo Segovia continues this whole month. We added many more works for you to enjoy. This exhibit is free. The exhibit is open from 9 AM to 2 PM from Tuesday to Saturday. Remember that we serve breakfast and drinks (the whole menu is available with prior notice).

This Tuesday beginning at 9 AM we are hosting Jatari Warmi. They are a women’s farmer’s organization from Jadán, Gualaceo. They bring the freshest and most beautiful produce, chicken and eggs. Don't miss out. Come early as they sell fast.

We also have Nunkui products available. They have the most wonderful yucca, beef, chocolate, honey, turmeric and many more organic beauties from the Amazon region of Ecuador. Most of you already know Nunkui and the wonderful work they do. In these troubling times the best we can do is to support our local producers and certainly one of our favorites is PanArte. You won't get a $3 loaf of sourdough anywhere in Cuenca. PanArte is the best sourdough for the best price.

You may also pick up your favorite fish from Cuenca Salmon.

We are 10 mts from La Cuadra Station (Tranvía) couple of stops from el Centro and a 15-20 minute walk from Ordoñez Lasso. Come and get to know us and thanks for all those happy customers that are always encouraging to continue.

September 21st, from 9 AM to 9 PM, Free, Mariscal Lamar y Luis Pauta, Cuenca.
