This week in la Guarida

Please know that La Guarida is taking all bio-safety measures into consideration to keep each other as safe as possible. Our maximum capacity is of 15 people, private restrooms for every reservation.

This week we bring you two incredible films:

Tuesday: Woman at War 6:15 PM
A powerful and refreshing film about climate change. From Iceland, we project this wonderful tale about a woman who will do anything to protect her land from great corporations. At the same time, she faces a different reality when she wants to adopt a child. Surreal touches, like pop-up musicians only the main character can see, give the movie’s politics a playful, fairy-tale cast, but “Woman at War” is more captivated by her internal struggle. Should she raise a child or change the world? Or can the first achieve the second?

Wednesday: The Princess Bride 6:15 PM
Just as classic as it gets.

Please know that these two events are reservation with dinner only. Our maximum capacity is of 15 people so reserve fast. We are taking all precautions and our reservations are apart 2 meters from each other.

La Guarida is bringing back concerts. Every Thursday, we will be hosting musicians. As you know, musicians have been horribly hit by this crisis. They have not been able to perform at all and their way of life has changed dramatically. In order to support their efforts, we will charge a $10.00 cover which will go directly to them. Our maximum capacity will be of 15 people. We will use our two floors for extra social distancing. This week we will host Mariangel Mundaray and her husband Hector. They are a Venezuelan couple who you may have gotten to know prior this crisis. They are just two wonderful musicians and we cannot wait for them to bring their incredible talent to our house. Mariangel will sing diverse tunes from Latin America and Spain. Come dine with us and enjoy this very unique opportunity.

Our art exhibit by Maestro Eduardo Segovia continues this whole month. We added many more works for you to enjoy. This exhibit is free. The exhibit is open from 9 AM to 2 PM from Tuesday to Saturday. Remember that we serve breakfast and drinks (the whole menu is available with prior notice).

This Tuesday beginning at 9 AM we are hosting Jatari Warmi. They are a women’s farmer’s organization from Jadán, Gualaceo. They bring the freshest and most beautiful produce, chicken and eggs. Don't miss out. Come early as they sell fast.

We also have Nunkui products available. They have the most wonderful yucca, beef, chocolate, honey, turmeric and many more organic beauties from the Amazon region of Ecuador. Most of you already know Nunkui and the wonderful work they do. In these troubling times the best we can do is to support our local producers and certainly one of our favorites is PanArte. You won't get a $3 loaf of sourdough anywhere in Cuenca. PanArte is the best sourdough for the best price.

You may also pick up your favorite fish from Cuenca Salmon.

We are 10 mts from La Cuadra Station (Tranvía) couple of stops from el Centro and a 15-20 minute walk from Ordoñez Lasso. Come and get to know us and thanks for all those happy customers that are always encouraging to continue.
