JD’s Muebles announces huge expansion

Hola Folks,

We’d like to start by thanking all our friends and clients over the last six and half years who passed through our store and lives and made what we do so rewarding. The relationships we form in this life make living special and we’ve been blessed to meet so many awesome people through our various business activities. We look forward to greeting a whole new group as well as seeing our friends as we move forward in our new location.

We all know the last six months has been a very challenging time in many ways. All of us have had to cope with the limitations on our normal lifestyles and many have lost significant parts of their lives. All my life I’ve believed that with adversity comes opportunity and 2020 is no different. Many I know personally have used the events as a catalyst to improve their lives, be it through fitness, education, new hobbies, and closer more meaningful relationships. We’ve delivered books, musical instruments, exercise equipment and come to know some of you much better. So as frustrating as the government forcing us to close our doors for a couple months was, we’ve found a way to benefit from the setback and we hope you have too.

After years of searching for the right next location we’ve arrived at a store that I’ve looked at for several years. We feel it is the ideal environment for us to serve our friends and clients best for years to come. At well over 4000 square feet we have more than enough space to showcase all our inventory properly. We also have room for expansion and to more fully offer services we’ve provided over the years on a very limited basis due to space constraints. Centrally located between El Centro and the Ordonez Lasso corridor, we feel like it will be much easier for many of our friends to visit more often. We are a healthy 20-minute walk from either area, directly on the Tranvia line, and less than 5 minutes from a major bus stop. We have ample parking in front as well as behind our building should it be required. We of course will miss where it all started but we are always open to change.

In the coming days and weeks, we will be announcing many of our services in full detail. The downtime gave us the opportunity to really examine how we can best serve the community going forward. We think what we’ve added and expanded on will make your life much easier and far less stressful when it comes to moving, storing, and liquidating personal belongings.

So for those that haven’t found us already please stop by and see what the future holds at JD’s Muebles. I walk the Tomebamba every day, and now ride my bike to areas that previously required vehicle transport. The beauty of this city strikes me anew each and every day. The friendliness and generosity of the locals and the expat community constantly uplifts my spirit. And of course, the weather, it’s near perfect almost all the time. I believe firmly in the future of Cuenca and Ecuador as both a vacation and retirement destination. It's home for me and my family and yes, I am still in the “honeymoon” stage close to 2500 days after arriving. Our huge expansion amidst such uncertain times reflects our undying confidence in just how special this little spot on Earth is.

Come share with us how much you love the city and what makes it really special for you at:
