The report of our demise is greatly exaggerated!

Yesterday a GringoPost reader asked if the Cuecna Soup Kitchen was still in operation and what we are doing. The Cuenca Soup Kitchen has not disappeared and there has not been a break in our service! In fact, our scope has more than doubled in the past months.

The method has changed but the mission remains the same. We can't gather, as you know, but people are hungrier than ever. Every week we provide food kits to approximately 500 people. Each food kit contains 7 days’ worth of food. We serve the same families every week and would like to extend our reach but this is completely dependent on donations.

We also respond to special circumstances like the COVID outbreak at Hogar Miguel Leon and families in critical situations like Adreina and her children who we introduced to you yesterday. In addition, we distribute blankets and clothing as donations allow. We collaborate with other organizations like HKIE, Nur, Osso, Nova, El Arenal, Hearts Of Gold, Club Rotario Tomebamba, and more.

Our budget is razor-thin and all donations have a great impact. Donation information is below.
