Osvaldo Urbieta, brilliant Mexican violinist, is the Guest Soloist for the new digital concert of the Cuenca Symphony Orchestra on its YouTube channel: and on Facebook https: //www.facebook. com / sinfonicacuenca this Tuesday, June 30 at 8 PM, chamber music concert recorded on Friday, November 8, 2019 at La Catedral Vieja. The repertoire includes: The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi and The Four Seasons by Astor Piazzolla.

The 8 Stations. On this occasion and within the framework of the second Viva Vivaldi Festival held in November 2019, we presented two masterpieces about the four seasons: those of the Baroque Venetian composer Antonio Vivaldi and those of the twentieth-century tango revolutionary, Astor Piazzolla. This banquet is presented in period costumes, offering the public a true audiovisual party.

In the Four Stations of Vivaldi we find exemplified all the revolutionary characteristics of the Vivaldian baroque concert; absolute music, unrelated to the church; the three-beat contrasts: fast-slow-fast; the contrasting dynamic element due to the echo effect; a virtuoso soloist, accompanied only by the basso continuo, faces the entire orchestra; and finally, the imitation of nature, a good pretext to write a work with a spectacular imaginary title.

On the other hand, in Las Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas, Astor Piazzolla does not describe nature to us, but the bohemian spirit of the city of Buenos Aires, intoxicated with the frivolous elegance of tango in which the voices of the bandoneon and the violin aspire to the nostalgia and sadness of the soul.
