Su Terry with Jazz de Barro and María Tejada on March 19

1500 people at Teatro Nacional Sucre in Quito gave Jazz de Barro–the ‘underdog’ opening act for the Skatalites–a screaming standing ovation in 2019. Now Qi Note Records is proud to bring that show to Cuenca, with the addition of special guests María Tejada and Donald Régnier from Quito.

With this concert Jazz de Barro celebrates the release of their debut recording “Festejo de Capishca.” CDs will be available at the concert. We call our genre "Andean jazz."

Cuenca’s cognoscenti need no introduction to the fabulous María Tejada, truly a national treasure–but in case you are not familiar with her, please take a listen:

This very special show is one night only, at the historic 1200-seat Teatro Casa de la Cultura on Luis Cordero y Presidente Córdova. Tickets are only $5, and can be purchased in advance at Palier Cafe Libro (right next to the theatre) or at El Surtido on Borrero y Bolivar. Tickets can also be purchased at the theater box office before the show.

Jazz de Barro invites you to continue the celebration with them at the after-party following the concert: Pappa Pepino’s on 3 de Noviembre y Escalinata Juana de Oro.

Thursday, March 19, 8 PM to 10, Teatro Casa de la Cultura, Luis Cordero y Pres. Córdova, Cuenca
