I'm seeking expats to speak with regarding retirement in Cuenca

I've seriously begun looking in Cuenca. I'm seeking people (expats) for their take and advice on Cuenca. My itinerary will place me in Cuenca from 30 March through April 13th. During this time, I'd love to meet some people that have lived there for a while; talk about the pros and cons.

I arrive in Cuenca on March 30th, departing April 13th. Within the 2 weeks I'll be in Cuenca, I'd like to find a totally furnished apartment for 3 months (still need to get the lay of the land, suggested neighborhoods). I'll be living off my Social Security, so money is an absolute issue. My Spanish is essentially non-existent, though I spent a couple of months in Argentina and Uruguay. By the end of that time, I could go shopping and at least get around. I'm sure that I sounded like a moron, but the people seemed to appreciate my attempt. It probably helped that I was with my Cubano girlfriend at the time.

If you'd be so kind to give me some straight information across the board info, I'd be so grateful. Cuenca appears to be a great place, especially considering the malevolent SOBs in Washington. I feel terrible at saying it, but I've had it.

Please contact me.
Cheers,

Fred
