Regarding the current situation in Ecuador about the corona virus COVID19, we at Blue Box Advisors want to inform our clients that they will have coverage for COVID-19 within their Health plans (Confiamed, Latina Salud, BMI, Bluecard, Humana, etc.). One of the provisions of the Declaration of the State of Sanitary Emergency, is that the Private Health Insurance and Prepaid Medicine companies may not limit the coverage of the COVID-19 VIRUS to their clients.

What Does My Health Insurance Cover for the Coronavirus?

The health insurance covers it as any disability according to the values chosen by the client in his contracted plans, you will need to verify the contracts to confirm the coverage but all the insurance companies will assist you with a complete coverage for treatments or medical assistance.

What should I do if I have COVID-19 symptoms?

If you have these symptoms:

1.- Fever
2.- Coughs
3.- Shortness of breath

First, you must call the emergency number assigned by the government of Ecuador: 171, they will do the respective tests of the case.
If you have acute symptoms, go directly to the hospital or a private clinic where you'll need to complete an evaluation process to determine if you need hospitalization, if not they will send you back home for isolation.
In case you remain at the hospital or private clinic, contact your insurance broker and tell the clinic that you have a private health insurance and they will take care of the entire coverage process.
