Urgent need for the future of a family

Friends, we know that you are repeatedly being asked to donate to good causes and your generosity continues to improve the lives of your neighbors. Thank you. We hate to put out this urgent request, but three generations are at risk. However, you can help them. In fact, you have already started...thank you.

Recently our friend Nimia, who is a tremendous asset to the Cuenca Soup Kitchen, and her son, Julian, were the victims of a moto/car accident. Both were seriously injured. While Nimia continues to recover from a fractured leg and a fractured pelvis, her son has not been so lucky. While rehabbing, he fell and refractured his leg. He is in grave danger of becoming permanently disabled if he does not have surgery within a week. We were informed by the trauma surgeon that any delay will greatly reduce his ability to heal properly. This will pass the consequences of this terrible accident on to his wife and tiny daughter. With one accident, three generations will be impacted as his ability to work will be greatly hampered for the rest of his life.

Dr. Santiago Romo, whom many of you know, has offered to perform the surgery at a greatly discounted cost, but the highly specialized hardware required to save Julian's leg it is still expensive. We need to raise $7,000 this week. We have raised $1,645 thus far, so it is doable. This will cover the anesthesiologist, materials, surgical suite, and post-op therapy. This translates to 54 of you good people donating $100, or 27of you donating $200, or 11 of you donating $500. Whatever you can donate will be greatly appreciated.

Gofundme is an option for our friends in the States and you can read Julian's story there: https://www.gofundme.com/f/julian039s-plight

Jane Miner will be at the soup kitchen tomorrow from 10 AM -noon to collect donations (enter the old cloisters area if the church at Padre Aguirre y Presidente Cordova), then at Sunrise Cafe until 1:30 PM.

Des will be there on Thursday.

Thank you all in advance.

If you can help, please contact Des and Bill at desmion.dizney@gmail.com, Smith at smith@jlsdesigns.net, or Jane at jminer83@hotmail.com.
