Trebol Roses is partnering with Friends of Julian

Many of you know Nimia Cale who has been extremely helpful to all of us at the Cuenca Soup Kitchen. Recently Nimia and her son, Julian, were the victims of a moto/car accident. Both were seriously injured.

The local rose farm of Trebol Roses wants to help. They are offering a dozen, beautiful roses for $10 where 100% of the proceeds will go to pay the medical costs for this family. Let your purchase of roses spread love to a young family in need. One hundred percent of these proceeds with go towards Junian’s surgery and you will be sitting with beautiful roses on Valentine’s Day. Your roses will be available for pick up at Trebol’s office located at Otorongo Plaza on Friday. You can pay when you pick them up. To place your order, please contact Karla Sanchez at 096 904 1385.

A little more about the situation: While his Nimia continues to recover from a fractured leg and a fractured pelvis, Julian has not been so lucky. While rehabbing, he fell and refractured his leg. He is in grave danger of becoming permanently disabled if he does not have surgery within a week. We were informed by the trauma surgeon that any delay will greatly reduce his ability to heal properly. This will pass the consequences of this terrible accident on to his wife and tiny daughter. With one accident, three generations will be impacted as his ability to work will be greatly hampered for the rest of his life.

Dr. Santiago Romo, whom many of you know, has offered to perform the surgery at a greatly discounted cost, but it is still expensive. We need to raise $7,000 this week. This will cover the anesthesiologist, materials, surgical suite, and post-op therapy. This translates to 70 of you good people donating $100, or 35 of you donating $200, or 14 of you donating $500. Whatever you can donate will be greatly appreciated. We have raised $600 thus far, so it is doable.

If you would like to donate in another way, please contact Des and Bill at, Smith at, or Jane at

Thank you,
Des, Bill, Smith, and Jane
