Recommendation for Paradise Indian Restaurant

Paradise Indian Restaurant located on Parque de la Madre is a dominant jewel in the crown of the emerging Cuenca Food scene. While many have joked that Doug and I should write a Cuenca food blog, we are seriously considering it. We are not motivated by anything but self-interest. We want excellent, but out of the way places, meaning not on Calle Larga or in El Centro to succeed. And since our move and slow pace of putting together our new kitchen top to bottom we have eaten every meal out and taken every comment and suggestion to heart.

Several people had mentioned how good Paradise Restaurant is and during the arduous move to our new digs we decided to give it a try. It was a 5 star, 2 thumbs up and whatever designation means that it is a hall of Fame Rock Star experience.

In the past we have always couched our recommendations by saying "it's the best in Cuenca", meaning that the restaurants here are limited by the special ingredients or spices that may not be readily available here in Ecuador. Thankfully the owners brought suitcases full of fresh spices from India. It makes all the difference.

Doug likes heavy spice, so much as to bring him to tears of joy. I like mine on the medium range and we both got exactly what we wanted and purred all the way home. The hefty portions, excellent service, the ambience, and oh the perfect food all make Paradise Restaurant an experience that will make any lover of Indian Food very, very happy.

If you haven't tried this amazing restaurant you are missing a treat. I loved my garlic chicken, so much so that it has replaced butter chicken as my go to comfort food.
