Real stories from the Hogar

At Hogar de Esperanza, some of our most special moments are with the children. Children facing illness or living in extreme poverty have very few expectations and their needs are simple. This year, we are expecting 300 children at our annual Christmas Party at the Seminary San Luis next to the new Cathedral.

We ask each child what they want for Christmas and their responses are amazing. This year, one of the children wrote that he just wants good health and an education. He explained how his parents don't make enough to put food on the table and he prays that they could have more resources. One of our most touching stories from the last party was from a little boy, with cancer. Not able to walk and play like other boys, he just wanted a remote control car. We were able to make his dreams come true.

Working with other foundations, we bring together families facing serious illness and living in poverty. Each family is interviewed and vetted to qualify. The cost for each family runs around $100 and you can either sponsor a whole family or share sponsorship with others. You will have a chance to meet the family you sponsor and spend time with them on Sunday, December 15th. To sponsor a family online, you can use the US paypal link on our website: or you can visit the foundation at Juan Montalvo 8-18 and Mariscal Sucre to make a cash donation or to get more information. Help make a child's Christmas special this year.
