A Crazy weekend at The Good Life Cafe

As the saying goes, be careful what you wish for because you just might get it. Not that I wished for an insanely busy day of selling $1 tacos, but I did wish for Saturday to be busy and I got my wish and then some. I want to thank everyone that came out and ate $1 tacos or our new pastrami sandwich or anything else that was eaten. We had a record Saturday and the 2nd most successful day since we've opened. One thing is for sure - our tacos rock and everyone that had them (and I am not exaggerating) said so. We also sold quite a bit of our "Better than New York" cheese cake.

So, you might be wondering what we could possibly pull out of our hats to top our tacos. Drum roll week we will be launching our sushi menu. Did he say sushi? I sure did. We have been planning this for some time and are excited to say we are ready to pull the trigger. You will have to stay tuned to find out which day it will be launched though. And, some lucky person is going to win free sushi. As we all know, there is only one thing better than sushi and that is free sushi. We have also been working on our Ramen. Although it was already very good, we've given it an upgrade and it is way better now. We will also be adding chicken teriyaki to the menu to round off our Japanese-styled menu. That is not to say that we might not be offering more options later. The success of a menu is directly predicated upon it being new and different from time to time while maintaining the dishes that are super popular. That almost sounded like I know what I am talking

Since I am writing this late Sunday night, I am guessing it won't be published until Tuesday so I won't tell you what Monday's special is. If this does come out on Tuesday, you will need a time machine to go back to Monday and check Facebook for the special which will be over by then anyhow. Suffice it to say that whatever the special was on Monday, it was probably awesome like the rest of our food. Of course, I am sure, there will be people still ordering tacos which is OK.

I am also not going to mention Tuesday's special because I am not sure what it is although it might be our new pastrami sandwich. By the way, let's just say we have the best pastrami in town and being 1/16th Italian, I would know. I say 1/16th because I am not exactly sure what the exact number is and if I am going to misrepresent myself, I would rather do it on the low side. I actually think my Italian heritage goes much deeper, but I can't be for sure. As you know, if you have read any of my previous posts, I even think I was an Italian in a previous life. Not anyone famous, but definitely Italian. What else could possibly explain my love of all food Italian and the TV show The Sopranos.

There are great things happening at The Good Life Cafe (previously The Vegetable Bar). If you haven't checked us out yet, you really should. You don't want to be the last Expat in Cuenca to try our food.

BTW - if you live far away from our location on Ordonez Lasso Y Los Cedros, we DELIVER. Our website will be done any day and you will be able to view our menu there. Eventually, we will have e-commerce added so you can order and pay online. That is a few weeks away still though.

As I just mentioned, we are located at Ordonez Lasso y Los Cedros in Edificio Los Cedros next to Mundo Digital and across the street from Cruz Azul and Produbanco.

Hour current hours are (they will be changing soon) - Mon. Sat. 9 AM to 3 PM and Sun. 9 AM - 1 PM.

Hope to see you at The Good Life Cafe Soon.
