Update on Maria's Journey

We have written about Maria many times. This weekend we are taking her on stage 2 of the unification process with her children. This time we will be staying overnight in Crucita and her children will stay with her. The next stages will be the children coming here to Cuenca for a visit and then hopefully living with her again by February.

Word has spread within the medical community of how a group of expats here in Cuenca has been able to do so much for this young woman who had no hope. Recently, another foundation from Loja transferred us an 18-year old girl in a similar situation who has had no contact with her family for 10 years and has a child, now 3, who was taken from her at birth. We are now working on reuniting her with her family and child. These cases are complicated and are often accompanied by abuse and neglect. We are fortunate that Hogar de Esperanza can provide a broad range of services that help reunite families.

We need your support for our trip this weekend with Maria. If you would like to donate you can do so through our website at: http://www.hogaresperanza.org/en/donations/ If you would like to learn more about our work, you can visit us at Juan Montalvo 8-18 and Mariscal Sucre. Thank you for your support of these young women.
