Cuenca Symphony Commemoration of the Day of the Dead

Thanks to the invitation of the EMUCE-EP, the Symphony Orchestra of Cuenca under the baton of maestro Jorge Oviedo Jaramillo, Guest Director and with the participation of the Cuenca singer Verónica Tola, presents on Thursday, October 31 the VII Concert of the Second Season 2019 in commemoration of the Day of the Dead in the Patrimonial Cemetery Theater (Illustrious Characters Sector) at 8 PM. Free entrance.

Jorge Oviedo Jaramillo - Composer and director of Symphony Orchestra. His catalog of works, which includes different formats, has been considered and executed in countries such as Egypt, Spain, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Peru, Uruguay, Switzerland and Ecuador, obtaining awards and recognition for some of his compositions.

Responsible for and executor of important staging and editing, among which local and absolute premieres of Ecuadorian and foreign creators stand out. As director, he has made recordings of works by Ecuadorian academic composers such as Luis Humberto Salgado, Gerardo Guevara and Mesías Maiguashca.

On stage, he has shared and accompanied outstanding soloists such as Paulo Gori, Ney Rosauro, Pierre Yves Artaud, Tadashi Maeda, Andrés Torres, Tibaulth Cauvin, José Luis Urquieta, Luciano Carrera, James Strauss, among others.

He was the Principal Director of the Metropolitan Symphonic Band of Quito and Musical Director of the Sucre National Theater Foundation. He has been Assistant Director of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ecuador on several occasions.

He currently maintains an agenda as a composer, director and teacher inside and outside the country.

Verónica Tola - singer. Explore genres as part of different groups throughout her career, she participated in the reality show Pop Stars which allowed her to represent Ecuador for 5 years before Colombia in acting roles and advertising jingles. Guest Soloist of the Symphony Orchestra of Cuenca at the Rock and Symphonic Pop concerts, Christmas Tour, Ecuadorian Music, Women sing to Cuenca, among others. She studied vocal jazz in Argentina and is about to finish her Bachelor of Music at the University of Cuenca.

Finalist in the reality La Voz Ecuador. She has accompanied her coach in musical performances in various parts of the country. She personified Imelda in the Coco musical with actors and singers from different countries. She has been invited to open the concerts of great artists such as Toquilla, Paulina Tamayo, etc. Fully dedicated to musical art, she decides to launch her proposal in a wide variety of genres on the CD Versions for her 25 years of artistic career that will be presented at the end of the year.
