Cuenca Diabetes Support Group - Monday Sept. 2, 3 PM

One very simple and significant thing people can do when they need to make a change in the way they live — maybe they want to lose weight, or manage a disease like diabetes, is to learn all they can about different strategies that work. That's why I formed the Cuenca Diabetes Support Group, to provide a channel of education

Last week we had lots of fun using an online program. Research shows that tracking foods and beverages - just the act of writing it down - improves your progress towards your goals.

People with diabetes are not "diabetics," they are people living with a condition that can be successfully managed, sometimes with lifestyle alone, and sometimes with both lifestyle and medication. By meeting with others who have diabetes, or want to prevent getting diabetes you can feel that the members of the group will understand your own experience firsthand.

You do not have to have diabetes to join the group, — maybe you have a partner or spouse who needs your support, or maybe YOU just want to get healthier by learning how to eat better and learn other strategies too. We talk healthy eating, shopping, strategies for socializing, traveling healthfully, and preventing advancement from pre-diabetes. Join in. Log on to Facebook and join our group

As always, there are no dues or fees. Donations to Cuenca's Casa de la Diabetes Foundation will be accepted. We are proud to announce that we funded a child at their Campamento for Kids that took place this past weekend in Yunguilla Valley. The kids spent the weekend learning how to manage their type 1 diabetes, all the while having fun - swimming, playing, having bonfires, and just being 'normal' kids, with a manageable disease.
