This week, Art Historian Berenice Cárdenas will be covering Traditional Craft of Embroidery. This session will explore the traditional garment of the Chola Cuencana: “La Pollera”, the flowered embroidered skirt and its corresponding blouse which is also embroidered. The different motifs, the different types of embroidery and their meanings and other curious facts about the garment of La CholaCuencana, including the Chal, also known as “Macana”.
