International programs coordinator position at CEDEI

The Centers for Interamerican Studies, CEDEI, is seeking motivated individuals with an interest in the field of international education.
Our organization works with various higher education institutions from around the world and the candidate will be overseeing university age students and teaching faculty groups in Cuenca, Ecuador, who participate in the variety of programs we offer. A coordinator has direct contact with students before their arrival and during their stay. The candidate should be passionate about education, dedicated to student learning and cross-cultural exchange.

The coordinator will:
• Assist to develop and manage comprehensive academic support program.
• Assist students on course selection and provide guidance on academic goals.
• Coordinate with instructors to develop lesson plans and materials
• Prepare and maintain student records
• Travel with students to excursions and trips across the country overseeing health and safety or emergency situations during these excursions (seasonal)
• Receive and process students’ information previous and during their stay
• Provide student’s assistance during the program

Required skills and qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in international education, education, Latin American studies, international relations, or similar.
• Language proficiency in English and Spanish
• Availability to live in Cuenca, Ecuador for 2 years, as minimum. Starting date March 2019.
• Comfortable leading a group, managing logistics, staying attuned to group dynamics
• Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students and faculty
• Ability to work autonomously and as a team with problem solving skills.
• Ability to problem-solve and respond effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong listening and organizational skills, ability to communicate professionally both orally and in writing with careful attention to detail.
• Maintain a professional demeanor at all times and especially times of stress.
• Willingness and ability to work outside of regular business hours, including evenings and on weekends, as necessary (seasonal)

Preferred qualifications
• Knowledge of international program management in higher education and education abroad process
• Experience with student and/or academic advising
• A team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to be flexible.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and databases.
