Getting my cedula

Hi, I've had my two year visa for almost a year and a half. I got that instead of a cedula because I arrived in the 'doughnut hole' time period where the rules had changed and they weren't giving out cedulas unless you had been here legally for two years.

I'm not sure what the rules are for me now. I paid for a two-year visa and had a lawyer handle it for me. From what I understand from a friend I don't need another lawyer and I won't owe extra money. I'm just not sure what to do. I know I have to go to Machala but I'm not sure other than that. Does anyone have advice for me? I'm not sure who to ask and my friend said they really didn't like you showing up with a lawyer anyway.
