Veteran’s Day commemoration

The holiday now known as Veteran’s Day in the US was originally known internationally as Armistice Day. It is commemorated every year on November 11, to mark the Armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany at Compiègne, France, for the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front of World War I. The Armistice took effect at eleven o'clock in the morning—the "eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" of 1918. The date was declared a national holiday in many allied nations, and today coincides with certain public holidays known variously as Remembrance Day and Veterans Day.

The US Veterans Day is next Sunday morning, a week from today, and we would like to commemorate the moment by remembering our comrades in arms, as we have done here in Cuenca for the past several years. Please join your fellow veterans, friends, and neighbors who will gather at Parque San Sebas (where Cafe San Sebas is located) at 10:45 AM, next Sunday, November 11, 2018 to commemorate the day and to honor and remember those who have served, and who continue to serve.

At 11 AM, we will briefly convene for prayer and we will remain to offer an opportunity to each of those who wish to speak in honor of, or in remembrance of, their friends, family, and loved ones, The gathering is for everyone, not just veterans. We want to have you join us.

Thanks for coming,
