Santa's Workshops Series at idiomART

This may not be the North Pole. We may miss the reindeer and jingle bells. Still, your foray into elving can be as successful as Santa’s.

Prepare for the holidays with this series of idomART workshops designed to get you in a celebratory, seasonal mood.

Many expats in Cuenca did not move to Ecuador with boxes of tree trimmings, gift wrap, ribbon, and bows. If you’re one of them—if you came with a few suitcases, a partner, pet, and nothing for the holidays, then this series if for you. And even if your home is already filled to the rafters with seasonal décor, then who couldn’t use a few more treasures?

Can Art: The Holiday Edition
This workshop adds whole new meaning to what one considers a can(vas). And what a tree ornament should look like.

Oh, what one can do with cat food cans! The op-PURR-tunities are endless.

If you’d like to make green, good-for-the-planet ornaments, if you’re interested in morphing junk into joy, then this four-hour workshop is for you!

Date: Tuesday, December 4th
Time: 10 AM to 2 PM
Cost: $15 (all supplies included)

Have a Ball: Ornament-Making as Holiday Ecology
You, too, can have a ball during the holidays. Especially in Cuenca.
Practice holiday ecology at idiomART.

Make quilted ornaments by upcycling fabric from old skirts and shirts and recycling papers from magazines and out of date maps.

Don’t miss this chance to make your own, hard-to-find, English-language holiday cards.

During this four-hour course, you will learn how to use collage materials and techniques to make one-of-a-kind cards—cards that straddle the border between greeting and art.

By incorporating everything from old buttons and bottle caps to paper scraps and maps your cards can also be planet-friendly.

Time: 10 AM to 2 PM
Cost: $15 (all supplies included)

Extreme Gift-Wrapping: How to Package with Trash
Don’t spend big bucks on gift wrapping over the holidays!

You can have more fun and make a more lasting impression by packaging with stuff that is already cluttering your home.

You can upcycle trash into smashing wrapping. I kid you not.
