Living Healthy: an overview of healthcare choices for English speaking expats living in Cuenca was the theme of this month’s lecture sponsored by Crea tu Espacio (CTE). Katy Johnson, a retired RN who has lived in Cuenca for more than seven years, discussed important health related issues that affect expats living in Cuenca. Topics covered included High Altitude Sickness, effect of UV rays, fall prevention, emergency preparedness and information on Cuenca support organizations.
What is CTE? Crea tu Espacio is a non-profit Ecuadorian initiated foundation serving migrants and immigrants. It has been in existence for nine years. Headquartered in Cuenca, the foundation offers counseling and programs to build self-confidence, personal growth and development for youth and adolescents.
This monthly lecture series offers a variety of topics of interest to expats in Cuenca. The lectures are held at the Museo de la Ciudad on Gran Colombia on the second Tuesday of each month. Any changes in schedule will be announced in advance. Most importantly, 100% of the registration fees and donations go to Crea tu espacio to support the organization’s many programs.
