Recommendation for Dr. Santiago Romo, muscular/joint, ozone

On a recent trip to the United States, my left elbow developed bursitis, causing an accumulation of fluid and low-grade pain.

I visited an Urgent Care facility in Raleigh, NC, where they prescribed a local NSAID gel and told me to apply ice several times per day. I was told the fluid would dissipate on its own.

My travels took me to Hong Kong before returning to Cuenca. My elbow remained the same. Ice and the gel provided some relief, but no cure. My wife had previously used the services of Dr. Santiago Romo for her sciatica, with great success. She sent him an email about my elbow. His instructions were to soak my elbow in warm salt water a few times per day. This had much more positive impact than the ice/gel recommended in the US.

Upon my return to Cuenca, I visited Dr. Romo. He ordered x-rays and a sonogram of my elbow to identify the cause of the problem. Two days later, I was in his office for my next consultation. Able to verify (via x-ray and sonogram results) no additional pathology was involved, he evacuated the bursae in his office (no hospital required).

While still a bit tender, now 10 days after the evacuation, my elbow is otherwise back to normal. Perfect procedure. Perfect results.

I am very impressed with Dr. Romo’s perspective and honest sense of caring. Along the way he sent emails asking how I was doing (a practice he adopted while working in Connecticut), and requesting pictures of my elbow’s progress. He is a consummate professional, very pleasant to work with, and speaks perfect English.

I highly recommend his services.
