These days it is getting more and more difficult to apply for residency. If you have a problem with your application, you need to fix it as soon as possible.

The offices in Azogues don’t have any appointments until the end of January of 2019, and Machala not until May 2019. Guayaquil and Quito do not have any appointments available on their website. As you know, you must have applied for your residency visa before your current visa expires in order to stay legally in Ecuador. You must get an appointment to apply, so these long wait times are causing problems for people who do not have much time left on their current visa. I have spoken with many people that are having this issue.

Also, there is a new rule that you must have your Ecuador Criminal Background Check in order to apply for residency if your name is not in the system with your passport number.
I have been dealing with several of these situations just this month, so if you need help obtaining this document contact me as soon as possible so I can help you get what you need.

Luckily, the fees for visa applications are staying the same, for now.
But remember that the amount you need to invest for the Investor Residency Visa recently went up from $25,000 to $27,020. renews it automatically.

There is a lot of speculation about what will happen. For now, all I can say is that if you have an investor visa already, that you obtained with a $25,000 CD, you should get in touch with me right away so that we can ensure you have the right investment for your visa renewal. The bank will automatically renew your existing CD, and if you need to invest more we need to talk to the bank and get that taken care of before your visa renewal.

Do you have your end-of-life plans in order? Lately I have had many people asking me about how they should handle this important issue. Have you taken the time to set up your affairs to ensure things are taken care of correctly if something ever happens to you? What if you get sick or are badly injured and need ongoing care? These are the types of things you need to plan for, to ensure you and your loved ones are cared for in a time of great difficulty.

You don’t need a lawyer to help you set up your end-of-life plans. In fact, the best thing to do is to designate a Power of Attorney to someone you trust to take care of things for you when you’re no longer able.

Get in touch when you are ready to start making these plans. Think about who you would trust to make the right decisions in your name.

Make sure your plans will be fulfilled under law in Ecuador, since things do not always work the same way here as they do in the US or Europe.
Come chat with and I will answer all your questions and explain the difference between a Last Will and Testament and a Power of Attorney in Ecuador.
