Double D's Thanksgiving Buffet menu spotlight--sides #1

Our second Thanksgiving buffet menu spotlight describes the salad and two vegetable sides—after all, what is Thanksgiving without tons of sides?

Our leafy green and beet salad dressed with lemon vinaigrette and roasted pepitas offers a variety of textures that will awaken your palate. The earthiness of the tender lettuce leaves and roasted purple beets are contrasted with our light, lemony vinaigrette and crunchy, lightly salted roasted pepitas.

With regards to vegetables, one never knows what one will find at the mercados so we're leaving our options open for the freshest and most abundant options the week of Thanksgiving. You'll be treated to either green beans amandine or roasted carrots. Green Beans Amandine is a simple but tasty side that adds a lightness to the rich meal. Green beans are sauteed until tender-crisp and tossed with slivered almonds and just a slight squeeze of lemon juice.

If green beans aren't available, our roasted carrots will be a bright, beautiful side. Simply tossed with olive oil and salt, carrots are left to roast in a hot oven until tender and tasty. As soon as they come out, they're sprinkled with dill to awaken the natural sweetness of the carrots.

Our next Thanksgiving buffet menu spotlight will delve more deeply into additional sides. Watch for it later this week.

As a reminder, Thanksgiving buffet tickets are available now through noon, Monday, November 19, at Esperanza Thrift Shop or Minka. 25% of the profits will be donated to Hogar de Esperanza so come celebrate the holiday while bettering the lives of many less-fortunate.
