Lions Club meeting

For most expats, we have almost too many ways to spend our time.

For some, it’s golf, tennis, drinking, eating out, or even complaining about politics.

For others, we want to spend our remaining years enjoyably, but also leaving Ecuador a bit better
because of our efforts. Cuenca is blessed with a number of fine charities. I’m pleased to announce the newest of these charities—The Cuenca English Speaking Lions Club.

Our initial mission will be to provide free vision screening for children so that they can be treated early (when it is most effective). Future possible efforts of Lions Clubs in Ecuador revolve around these themes:

• Diabetes
• Environment
• Hunger
• Vision
• Pediatric Cancer
• Education
• Drug Abuse and Addiction

Which of these will we do? It depends on the desires of our members. That is where YOU come in. A small group has done the initial club organizing work. To become a chartered club, we need a total of twenty members. Our members will choose future projects.

If you’re a person who wants to help other people and enjoys associating with other charitable people come and join us.

P.S. Open to men and women. A special welcome to Latinos who speak at least some English.

If you are potentially interested, and can't attend, please contact us to let us know.
