Used laptop, $90

Older unit, no battery so must remain plugged in. We have too many laptops so one has got to go. A little slow for someone who likes to have a lot of things open at one time, probably best for a secondary / backup / guest’s / child’s computer. Screen size 15.4” (1280x800 pixels). DVD/CD reader/writer drive.

The Bad:
- No battery (has 9 foot power cord so should easily reach an outlet)
- Screen has a line of pixels out (see pictures)
- No camera (would work with external USB camera, internal microphone works)
- I never could get the internal wireless working (comes with external wireless, also wired connection works)
- Only 1GB of RAM (Not as bad as it sounds considering older operating systems use less memory than their bloated modern counterparts)
- Only 3 USB ports

The Good:
- Tried and true Windows XP operating system
- Skype and other software installed
- Has a DVD/CD reader/writer drive for when you need it (could use it to watch DVDs also)
- Upgradeable to 2 GB of RAM (there is an unused memory slot, supposedly could support 4 GB of RAM).
- Brand new CPU fan installed last week
- Over 90 GB of free hard drive space (hard drive is around 110 GB total)
- Cleaned up and defragmented (all of our files have been removed)
- Mouse only 2 months old and hardly used
