Sustainable Cuenca - Volunteers needed for new Cuenca Soup K

Well it has finally happened. We will be opening a soup kitchen in El Centro to feed refugees and we are opening on this Tuesday, April 17. Our new location on Louis Cordero will hold 25 people and we will have two seating at 11:30 and 1:00 that will serve a total of 50 people. At this point we will be serving on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We hope to expand to Wednesdays as well once we see how fund-raising efforts go.

The reason that I am late looking for volunteers is because we will be training and using refugees as servers and kitchen prep but upon reflection I will need a few people who speak English who can help me work with the refugees by showing by example what needs to be done. Fluency in Spanish is not required. This is an opportunity to give back to our adopted community.

Please email me at if you are willing to commit to a day a week to move this project forward.

As always, we are seeking donations as well. You can sponsor one day's meal for $20. Your generosity is appreciated by me and those we are serving.

Tuesday, April 17, Louis Cordero, Cuenca.
