Seeking construction manager for rural volunteer project

El Grupo de Mujeres (EGM) is a group of women from Chaucha, Ecuador working to develop their community through the production and sale of high quality coffee. They have plans to complete their wet and dry coffee mill this May and June before the harvest, and the building still needs electric, plumbing, interior walls, doors, gutters, and cement finishing. It hasn’t been an easy journey – they’ve had workers and foremen steal their money, not show up to work, and bail on the project completely. They are so close, and the end is in sight. That’s why we’re seeking volunteer help to finish the building and get this project done! Experts in electric, plumbing, and basic construction are the most needed. Take a look at the photos above; the building itself is structurally complete. The rest of the project will likely take 8-10 weeks, but we’ll happily accept folks for two-week stint if you’re willing to come.

This community is about 2.5 hours outside of Cuenca and it’s a rough journey; but a local US couple involved with the project is offering to host volunteers at their lovely home, an refurbished Hacienda with hot water, great food, and stunning mountain views. You’ll have a comfy private room, too. Spanish is useful but not necessary, as we already have a volunteer who can translate for you. I’d be happy to send photos of the building, chat via phone, and meet in person soon to discuss the opportunity with you. Thanks,
