James and Ruth, the owners of Amedeo Chocolates, are regular patrons of my restaurant, Le Petit Jardin. We have had the opportunity to discuss their artisanal chocolate business on many occasions. And, I have sampled many of their chocolates myself.
The business model of Amedeo Chocolates is to buy their cocoa beans from small farmers from all over Ecuador. In doing so, they not only are able to produce a better product, but also help the sustainable agriculture methods being used by these small farmers; something I try to do in my own restaurant business.
I highly recommend that you give their chocolates a try. You will not be disappointed.
