One announcement before the produce and chickens:

We are putting the finishing touches on the menu for our Farm-to-Table Thanksgiving Day Buffet Dinner at La Cilindrada Restaurant. Don't make your holiday plans until you see what we are creating for you.

Top three reasons you'll want to come to our Farm-to-Table events:

1. Chef Michael and his team carefully craft dishes that achieve the ultimate combination of most delicious and most healthy. Imagine, all of the flavor and none of the guilt.

2. When our guests are finished with their meal, they don't feel overstuffed and lethargic, but rather energized by the variety of all the wonderfully exciting foods they have just experienced.

3. Our team has happily observed our Farm-to-Table events developing a kind of family atmosphere. Guests feel very comfortable chatting with each other and with the members of our team as well. So, if you're missing some of your family members, come to our lively events and we'll treat you like family, (only nicer).

I am very excited that my daughter will be making her first trip to Ecuador and attending our Thanksgiving Day event.

Fresh produce and chickens for this week:

We have the freshest markets in Cuenca and offer a large selection of farm fresh products and unique varieties not available anywhere else. Our produce is harvested in the morning for pickup in the afternoon. Can your favorite supermercado do that? (Not even close.)

The Gran Roca Wednesday Farm Fresh Market, will be on October 25th, from 2-3:30 at Filippo on Benigno Malo across from Parque Calderon. Enter through the big archway between Raymipampa and Tutto Freddo.

The Gran Roca Friday Farm Fresh Market will be on October 27th from 2-3:30 PM at the La Cilindrada Restaurant, 3-47 Roberto Crespo y Luis Moreno Mora, in El Vergel, with easy parking only a couple of blocks from the Stadium and SuperMaxi.

If you are looking for the best tasting pasture raised chickens, you have come to the right place. Our chickens are housed in groups of fewer than 100, on pasture, in a protective Chicken Tractor, fed whole foods without antibiotics or hormones, are moved daily to fresh pasture without poop or smell, are able to scratch in the soil, eat grass and bugs and see the natural cycles of day and night. It is a lot harder to do it this way, but this is how you produce the best food ever.

Our chickens come butchered on the same day you pick them up. (Do you really want to buy chickens that have sat around for days? weeks?) So, they must be ordered in advance by sending us an email letting us know (1) from which market date you want to pick them up (2) how many chickens you want, and whether to leave them whole or cut into parts, and (3) with or without organ meat. The Chickens vary in weight a little bit, but at $2.50/lb, most will sell for between $10 and $15 of ready to cook meat. You will receive an order confirmation and we will bring it to the Market you requested for pick up.

Fruits: Our Special Bananas, Strawberries, Real Lemons
Tomatoes: Heirloom Tomatoes (limited), Heirloom Cherry Tomatoes, Bitter-Free Eggplant, Green and Red Peppers, Hot Peppers
Cucurbits: Cucumbers, Special Zucchini (limited)
Brassicas: Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Curly and Dinosaur Kale
Beans: Green Beans, Fresh Beans
Greens: Lettuce (heirloom romaine), Real Spinach, Bok Choy
Fresh Herbs: including Real Peppermint, Cilantro, Garlic Chives, Basil
