An opportunity to help

Occasionally, at Hogar de Esperanza we get desperate cases needing immediate help and we appeal to the community to assist. They stretch our resources but it is difficult for us to say no especially when they have no one else to help them.

Yesterday, a young mother of three arrived with her sick 3-year old daughter. She was infected by HIV from a partner. He is in jail now but will be out in a few months. She fears for her life as he has threatened the children (3, 7 and 8). She has no income and the children are mocked in school because they only have old worn clothes and backpacks with holes. Her family is scared of her because of the HIV and will not let her use the same plates, washroom or wash clothes in the same water as the others. None of this is her fault but yet she is victimized every day.

Before the day was done, a sick baby arrived, barely a month old with her parents seeking our help. They had to leave their other three children at home. With no work, no income, they struggle to feed their children.

We will get these people medical treatment and help in whatever way we can. If you would like to help either of these families, you can make donations at Esperanza Thrift Shop, Tarqui 11-36. You can also call us or email us.

Thank you for your support.
