"Dax," the special needs dachshund, seeks your help

This sweet little guy was hit by a car three (3) months ago and his owner did nothing to address his injuries. Through a veterinarian no longer working in Cuenca, we discovered the owner's son was trying to prevent the owner from putting him down. Barbara Suderman and Patan Animal Rescue stepped in.

"Dax" (our nickname) is doing well after expert care from Dr. Gallardo. But, the cost was high. The injury is too old and he will never walk again. Nonetheless, he is a happy little soul, not depressed, functioning in most ways and doing well. He also needs a wheelchair apparatus to support his back legs when he needs to go to the bathroom and just move around. He is good with other dogs and would "shine" in a home of his own with a person who doesn't do much walking and is content to have a loving companion. He is very affectionate towards men as it is clear the owner's son was his real caregiver and buddy.

We are currently seeking donations to offset expenses and a temporary or permanent home for him. Even a three-week foster would be appreciated! This precious spirit is a "special needs dog" who would benefit greatly from your compassion, donation or support. "Dax" deserves a chance to live the good life as he has survived horrendous conditions, still lifting his head high and filling our souls with joy.

If you can open your wallet, home and/or heart, we are positive "Dax" will "sneak in" and fill an empty place you may not know existed. Anything you can do to support this little spirit will be so very, very appreciated.
