Beach break at Villa de Los Suenos Aug 14-18 with Chef Marc

Let’s Get Cooking and Feasting with Chef Marc on Our Oceanfront Terrace
August 14th - August 18th.

Are you cold in Cuenca? It is 70 degrees here at Villa de Los Suenos on the coast. We only have two suites left and a shared suite for a single woman. This is our last class with Chef Marc as he has other commitments, don't miss out.

Our four-night package with Chef Marc is so popular we have an additional coastal package. Marc Dullin, a French chef who retired and moved to Cuenca, will offer a hands-on cooking class for anyone who wants to participate. And we’ll all enjoy the results—a four-course dinner.

Chef Marc’s last two cooking classes at Villa de Los Sueños were so popular we are bringing him back. Our guests will be treated to some fun and an extraordinary meal. Fortunately, multiple generations of 15 fishing families live in our village. All it took was a single phone call, and the next morning a 22-pound sea bass and langostinos were delivered to our kitchen straight from the boats. A lot of side dishes were prepared by Marc and our own breakfast cook Elena. Our 10 guests from Cuenca had such a wonderful meal that we invited Marc to return.

Below is a link to the Cooking Class that took place during our recent Cuenca Group Tour to Villa de Los Suenos.

Another night we will dine at one of our favorite local spots, D’ Jinmy’s Restaurant on the beach in Las Tunas, about 25 minutes up the coast. Chef Jinmy stays busy all day cooking breakfast and lunch for surfers. By the time we arrive around 5:30 for an early dinner and hoping for a sunset, the crowd has left. We’re usually the only dinner guests in Jinmy’s open-air restaurant, which makes for a special night.

Not only you eat well but also enjoy pleasant temperatures in the 70s. July is prime whale-watching season (June through September) with almost guaranteed sightings on boat trips out of Puerto Lopez, and we often spot breaching humpbacks from our terrace.

For those of you have haven’t stayed at Villa de Los Sueños, you may have heard that we’ve got an ideal location, just high enough off the beach to catch refreshing ocean breezes. Our villa occupies a serene spot in the small fishing village of La Entrada, 10 minutes north of Montanita and 30 minutes south of Puerto Lopez. On this part of the coast, vegetation has been greener than ever, thanks to a rainy period earlier in the year. You can count on being comfortable in T-shirts and shorts every day.

Many of our first-time guests arrive here with ambitious plans, then spend most of their time inside our tranquil walled enclave—resting by the pool, soaking in the Jacuzzi, walking our long stretch of beach, and enjoying sunsets on a terrace that overlooks the ocean and our pool.

However, for those who want to do it all, we can arrange guided visits to Machalilla National Park, snorkeling day trips, and paragliding above the coast (tandem flight with a guide). We’ll be offering a couple of day trips during your stay. If you chose to participate in one of those, there will be an additional charge of $30 per person.

The cooking class will be conducted in English and recipes provided. The class will be $25 per person for class and dinner; the cost will be $15 per person for dinner only.

The whale-watching day trips out of Puerto Lopez are a thrill—50-foot humpbacks breaching, mother whales with their new calves, and male humpbacks vocalizing and doing acrobatics to attract the females. Whale watching tours are $25 per person.

We’ve had a lot of guests from Cuenca over the last couple of months. It’s always good to see our old friends and those coming for the first time.

We know that transportation from Cuenca to the coast can be a challenge, so we found a way to make it easy. We’ve teamed up with Van Service for Transporte y Turismo in Cuenca for a four-night stay at Villa de Los Sueños, including round trip transportation for $250 per person based on double occupancy.

This is a large, comfortable VW Turismo van. Check out their website Remember this price includes a four-night stay, roundtrip transportation, full breakfast daily, plus all taxes and fees. The van will leave Cuenca on the morning of Monday August 14th and drop you off at Villa de Los Sueños. The return will be on Friday August 18th.

Come join us for four days of fun by the sea. What are you waiting for?
