Who wants to get up for an early morning exercise class?

We have formed a Tai Chi class that meets Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays at 10 in the morning. The classes are held in a building just two blocks away from SRI at Padre Matovelle 7-55 y Ricardo Munoz. The instructor, Manuel Dutan, lived in China for four years studying their martial arts. He teaches both Yang and Chen forms of Tai Chi as well as Qi Guong, Kung Fu and various weapons associated with those arts. I have studied with him for five years and will be available to help with instruction in English while I pursue my studies.

As we age, flexibility and equilibrium are more and more important in preventing falls and other injuries. Tai Chi not only improves these factors but, respiration improves as does cardiac health. An additional benefit is that classes are held in Spanish and you are actually getting a Spanish conversation class there every day you attend. Oh, and it is a martial art.

Classes meet three times a week; they run about an hour. You are paying for three classes a week, if you miss a class, individual attention will keep you up to speed. You should carry a pair of sneakers or slippers to wear during class.

Similar to being a part time university student there is a registration fee after which you pay for the courses you are taking. Cost is about $4.60 a class.

Classes are inside. The building is opposite Omnitron on Padre Matovelle off of Ricardo Munoz. Class space is on the third floor (55 steps). Classes are not held on days that are school holidays. Manuel’s cell is 099 080 7669, the office is 07 288 4556. My number is 07 282 0815.
