Recommendation for Vegetable Bar, haute cuisine/not stuffy

Last evening we enjoyed a memorable meal at the Vegetable Bar on 3 de Noviembre y Jacaranda. Chef Yasu prepared a Kaiseki Japanese multi-course dinner. Each Sunday for these special dinners the Vegetable Bar transforms from a casual eatery to a culinary experience. They turn the lights down low and the jazz music up, and last night we were treated to what is described as "the ultimate style of Japanese food, and both the preparation methods and appearance are refined. Imbuing dishes with a seasonal feel and bringing out the natural flavors of the ingredients are very important parts of this style of cuisine." We enjoyed seven courses — each course was so unique and tasty — including steamed spinach dumplings with a soy-sesame paste dipping sauce, noodles in lemongrass broth with vegetable wanton, and a super sushi platter.

Each Sunday the menu is different, so check them out. And of course, the Vegetable Bar's staff is professional and friendly, so do make a reservation — it is worth it.
