Kaiseki or kaiseki-ryōri, a traditional multi-course Japanese dinner.

Kaiseki (懐石) or kaiseki-ryōri (懐石料理) is a traditional multi-course Japanese dinner. The term also refers to the collection of skills and techniques that allow the preparation of such meals, and is analogous to Western haute cuisine.

Understand the meaning of Kaiseki at The Vegetable Bar with Chef Yasu. This Sunday, October 8th at 6:30 PM.

A 7-Course 5-Star Dinner, $25 per person.

This week Chef Yasu's menu is:

* Savory pumpkin-ginger cake in tomato-water dashi, shaved asparagus and coconut-milk foam

* Steamed spinach dumplings, soy-sesame paste dipping sauce and chive oil

* Homemade tofu with shitake mushroom sauce

* Noodle in lemongrass broth, vegetable wanton and fizzled onion

* Sushi platter: Salmon avocado roll, shrimp tempura roll, grilled Spanish mackerel roll with crunchy daikon pickles and rice-coconut cracker.

* Blueberry granita as palate cleanser.

* Green-tea flavored mille crepe with coconut tuile
