Cell service expats use for their "unlocked" cell phones while in US

Hi Friends, Back in the ol’ USA for a few months and having cell phone issues. I pay T-Mobile $3/mo while I'm in Cuenca to keep my US phone number and use the same phone with an EC Claro sim card in Ecuador. While in the States I just paid for a complete package for $75 for the month of September. The problem is that in Ocala, FL, my brother lives in a subdivision where all the homes have lots of acreage...in the woods, so no service. Same thing here in Williamsburg, VA and last week in Jackson Hole, WY. The only time I can make a phone call is literally when I'm in the heart of town. T-Mobile feels so bad, they've added on three additional weeks for me, altho' that won't help at all.

Wondering if you use one cell phone for US and EC, what company you use when in the States and if plan is pre-paid, post-paid, etc. Thank you so much.
