Question re IESS proof submission and a related anecdote

I've been following the GringoPost posts regarding submitting proof of insurance for those with private coverage, but what about those of us on IESS? Do we also need to schlepp a copy of our coverage certificate to Azoques or are we already 'in the system?' I have yet to read a cogent answer to this.

And now the anecdote: When I paid my premium in August at Banco Guayaquil, I handed the teller the document Ms. Calle printed for me at IESS. He took my money, stamped my document and KEPT IT. Did he retain my paper so as to pass it on to Those In Charge? Did this take off my proof of coverage submission? Why else would he keep my coverage letter?

Inquiring minds want to know....

And I really dislike the idea of a day trip to Azoques if not necessary.
