An example of your support in action

A few nights ago our doorbell rang. An elderly lady and her husband stood there, crying. She gave me a big hug and said “Thank God for the gringos”. A week earlier they received a call that their son was in hospital. There was no way they could come to Cuenca but were told there was a group of gringos who would help them. They begged and borrowed the $200 to make take the nearly 96 hour bus ride to Cuenca to stay with us.

12 years ago their son left a guerrilla ridden area of Colombia for a better life and they had not seen him since. He was now in a health crisis.

I comforted her and let her know that we will do everything we can and provide everything they and their son needs to get him healthy again. Without us, it was possible they would have no hope of seeing their son again. Thankfully, having his family here it has given him hope and he has improved. Watching her wash his clothes, make snacks to bring in to him and doing all the things a mother would do for a sick son is incredible.

Thank you to all those who support our work and give hope to so many in need. This week alone we will serve over 200 plates of food, our beds will be slept in over 50 times and so far this month, we will have provided $500 in medication supports to critically ill patients and their families.
