Bike rentals in Cuenca

Let me try and save people some time here. I wanted to rent bikes, and had a devil of a time. Places recommended before had gone out of business, etc.

The only place I found to rent bikes is TerraDiversa (www.terradiversa.com/tour/biking-in-cueca). It is right in Centro on Larga at Cordero, right next to the popular restaurant El Mercado.

They are only open Monday to Friday, and you can just show up to get a bike. The rate is $8 for a half day. If you want a bike on the weekend then arrange it on Friday. They also do 1 day bike trips around Cuenca if you want to get an orientation.

Another way of getting a bike for a half day is to go down to Tres de Voviembre and Malo on Sunday morning. The location is on the river at the community police station. The city provides free bikes until noon. Bring your passport, and arrive no later than 8am because the bikes go fast.

Hope this helps,
