Important speaker at Veterans League meeting

Our next monthly Veterans League luncheon will be held at noon, Friday, October 7, at La Herradura Restaurant located at Avenida Remigio Romero 3-55 y Remigio Crespo (between Renmigio Crespo and Remigio Tamariz). Please note the new venue which is about two blocks from our former venue, and offers a similar menu ranging from BBQ wings to lomo fino and ribs, and including an almuerzo and burgers. We will have a private meeting room. The management has agreed to give us each a ten percent discount.

Our speaker will be Giancarlo Vignolo, an attorney with the firm of Vignolo Barzallo, who will speak on Ecuador employment/labor law, particularly as it applies to employing a housekeeper or other personal employee. There is a lot more to it than most of us realize, and our experience in the US does not transfer to useful expertise here (I was a CPA, and there are a lot of new pitfalls). It is also interesting that complying with the law costs very little, but affords the employer a great deal of protection with regard to workplace injuries, health care, etc.

Because of the broad interest in this topic (if you are not interested, you should be), we wish to extend an invitation once again to spouses and guests. See you this coming Friday. Invite any fellow veterans, guests, and everyone's spouse.
